Violin Teacher and The Wedding Violinist

Victoria Bietz studied with Mark Kaplan at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she received her B.A. in Violin Performance. She then went to The Boston Conservatory for her Masters in Music and studied with longtime Boston Symphony Orchestra member Joseph McGauley. Victoria has worked in San Diego as a freelance violinist since 1998. She has played with many groups including: San Diego Symphony Orchestra, Classics for Kids, La Jolla Playhouse, Old Globe Theatre, Broadway San Diego, Luscious Noise, California Chamber Orchestra, San Diego Repertory Theatre, and former groups: Orchestra Nova, San Diego Chamber Orchestra, Opera Pacific, and Starlight Theatre. Her wedding and special event group Avonlea Strings plays across San Diego and Orange County.

Victoria grew up in the eastern San Diego mountains of Jamul. Her musical family fostered her interest in the violin and she became heavily involved in San Diego Youth Symphony, where she was Concertmaster for three years. While in SDYS, Victoria traveled to Sun Valley Idaho, Spain, Canada, and Eastern Europe. As an Alumni she recently traveled with the Youth Orchestra to China in 2015. While in High School, Victoria competed and won prizes in both the MTAC Goodlin Scholarship Competition and the ASTA Solo Competition. At age 19, Victoria began subbing with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.

As a freelance violinist, Victoria enjoys playing in many venues and groups all across San Diego and Orange Counties. You can find her playing a San Diego Symphony Orchestra concert one evening, teaching private violin lessons the next morning, and perhaps see her that afternoon playing a wedding on the beach.
