Victoria Bietz studied with Mark Kaplan at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she received her B.A. in Violin Performance. She then went to The Boston Conservatory where she received her Masters in Music. After two years in the cold, Victoria moved back to San Diego as a freelance violinist. She has played with San Diego Symphony Orchestra, Luscious Noise, Classics for Kids, Orchestra Nova, California Chamber Orchestra, Opera Pacific, Starlight Theatre, and San Diego Repertory Theatre, among many others.
Victoria grew up in the eastern San Diego mountains of Jamul. Her musical family fostered her interest in the violin and she became heavily involved in San Diego Youth Symphony, where she was Concertmaster for three years. Her dad, Ted, was the conductor for the Wind Ensembles for over ten years. While in high school she had the opportunity to play in La Jolla Symphony with her entire family, and share a stand playing violin with her mom, Carol. In San Diego, Victoria won prizes in both the MTAC Goodlin Scholarship Competition and the ASTA Solo Competition.
As a freelance violinist, Victoria enjoys playing in many venues and groups all across San Diego and Orange Counties. You can find her playing a San Diego Symphony Orchestra concert one evening, teaching private violin lessons the next morning, and perhaps see her that afternoon playing a wedding on the beach.
